What’s the difference between a fruit, a vegetable, and a berry?
I was just eating an apricot and talking to my mom about whether watermelons are berries.

Depends. Who is asking the question and who is answering. The botanist will tell you that the part of the plant that holds the seed is the fruit. Therefore, the apple is a fruit, and so is the zucchini. And all plants are vegetables, because there is only animal, vegetable, and mineral. Therefore the broccoli is a vegetable, and so is the oak tree, and the grape. The cook will tell you that fruits are usually sweeter and used in desserts and vegetables are savory and used in salads. But the Vidalia onion is sweeter than rhubarb. Grapes are berries, as are blueberries, but raspberriles are compound fruits. Nut are seeds, the husk of the nut is the fruit of the plant. Not all fruits are edible. There are no clear answers here.
